Most people don't realize how much overhead lighting affects the whole mood of a room. Standard recessed lights and ceiling fixtures get the job done - but they don't create atmosphere. That's exactly what cove lighting does, and it's one of our favorite upgrades to install.
Cove lighting works by tucking LED strips into a ledge or recess built into the ceiling. The light washes upward and outward, which bounces a soft glow across the ceiling instead of shining straight down at you. The result is depth. It makes a room feel layered and intentional - like something out of a high-end interior design shoot.
What we love about it is how flexible it is. Want something warm and relaxing for a living room or bedroom? Done. Want something bold and dramatic for a home theater or dining room? That works too. The two examples we're showing here are completely different in feel - one bright and welcoming, one moody and cinematic - and both were achieved with the same basic concept executed differently.
This is the kind of detail that makes a finished home feel truly custom. It's not a huge footprint on your ceiling, but it carries a lot of visual weight. Paired with a chandelier or wall sconces, the layered lighting effect goes from nice to really impressive fast.
As a residential electrical remodeling service, this is the type of work we do regularly. Every install is wired cleanly and built to last - no shortcuts on the electrical side just because the fixture looks decorative. If cove lighting has been on your list, it's worth a real conversation about what it could look like in your space.
